Word Bank Poem
Salty plants rotate softly.
Adjacent turtle glide endlessly.
Alcoholic stupidity drop quickly.
Icy Fanta sweat peacefully.
Pimp money look pure sexy.
Blogging
This is my first time to share so much writing on a blog, I do feel that bloging could be fun sometimes but it shouldn’t be mandatory. Ever since I can remember, I was never a good writer, and I was never interested in writing as well. Not to mention that English isn’t my first language, writing has always been a weakness of mine.
Bloging is a good way to share your thoughts with people and communicate, and it is also a good way to keep you writing. In this short semester, I got the chance that write an amount that I usually wouldn’t get in an year. And this experience has surely improved a bit of my writing and editing skills, And this blog will be my little memory of it.
As the time to go back to school gets close, there probably won’t be any spare time for more bloging. But it has been a great time procrastinating these blog entries to the last minute, and it has really sharpened my skill on producing a large amount of writing in a short period of time.
Sing, Sing a Song
While I have never been a creative person, there are a few talents that revealed my creativity quite a bit.
Through out the course of my high school, one of the classes interested me most: webmastering. Webmastering is a class that teaches you how to make a website, which requires a lot of artistic value, creativity, and of course coding. On daily web surfing, people only see the pretty web pages, but they do not see the work behind the back. One simple way to get the little taste of web mastering is to right on the webpage’s background, and click view source. Webmastering was something that really interested me, from dreamweaver to flash or photoshop, I was really fascinated by the process of creating cool stuff. Not only I was interested, I was also good at it, however I did not further pursuit webmastering after high school.
Aside from webmastering, I was also interested in computer art work. I was in various computer classes that my high school could offer. These classes gave me a profound fundamental skills in MAYA(3d modeling), photoshop, flash, and etc. All of these requires an incredible amount of knowledge to master, even the programmers of these programs don’t know how to use them fully.
Stress Relief
Although never aggravated by stress problems, I do have encountered times when stress attacks. When I do feel stressed, I tend to find out the source of the stress first, in order to find a solution for it.
One of the most effective ways that I deal with stress would be getting some alone time. Resting in a quite place and think things over again has assisted me a lot on stress dealing. Other more indirect ways such as music, exercise, or sleep also come in handy. And of course, some video gaming never hurt.
So far my college academic stress has been child’s play, although I do have a few hardcore classes coming up next semester. I am sure I will use these tips on stress dealing a whole lot more
Assessing Ourselves
Looking back to the last few months, a lot of changes have been made to my life. A few months ago I was still living in my dorm cramming every weeknight. And now I am finishing up my procrastinated summer class work on a Sunday.
No longer a college freshman, more freedom, knowledge, responsibility and alcoholic beverages than never before has registered into my life. But this is a summer I cannot just squander away.
Unlike my normal self, I actually assessed myself this summer. Plans, classes, appointments, exams are all squeezing each other on my little cell phone-powered schedule this summer. As now I am studying for my pharmacy technician exam, hoping to get certified and get 2 years of pharmacy tech experience under my sleeves before I apply to schools. My naturalization is also under progress, as just had my finger prints taken, and awaiting for a citizenship interview now.
The last few months of my life has been quite productive, and it’s up to me to make the rest of the summer count.
Enlaring Your World
Randomly, I saw a blog on the wordpress website, and it was kind of interesting.
http://randomabsurdity.wordpress.com/2009/06/07/review-super-smash-brothers-brawl/
Yes! The blog is about the best game on the wii – Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
This blog connects to me in many ways, since I have invested a share of my time on this game, along with my roommate, and the entire 3rd floor of my dorm.
Ever since the Nintendo wii came out, it has been sold out almost everywhere. However, I was one of the lucky few to possess one. And if you ask any wii owners about the best game on the wii, the answer will always be SSBB.
SSBB is a real time fighting game with up to 4 players at time. You can play it in the same room with your friends or family, or you can play online via wifi. The game itself is easy to adapt, but hard to master. Enthusiastic players spend hours playing this game, just to get good. Other than that, the game is so much fun to play.
And if you want to play with me, I main Wolf and Lucario, and friend code is available upon request.
Connecting
What is the better way to coonect with people other than exchanging music tastes?
Therefore, I am going to statistically random select one of the soundtrack blogs and comment on my peer’s songs.
Here are the songs from the randomly selected blog:
Opening credit: Ring Ring – ABBA
Waking up: Stand Beside Me – Brother
First Day of School: the time is now – Brother
Falling in Love:I Wonder – ABBA
Fight Song: Matter of Time – Brother
Breaking Up: Rhapsody – Secret Garden
Prom: All I Know – Brother: I give up.
Life: Chains – Brother
Mental Breakdown: Take You Back – Brother
Driving: Photograph – Brother
Flashback: So Not Real – Brother
Wedding: Thank You for the Music – ABBA
Birth Of Child: Doesn’t Mean that I’m Not Strong
Final Battle: the machine – Brother
Death Scene: Tiny Piece of Paradise
End Credits: Falling Leaves
Apparently this randomly selected blog contains a quite amount of appreciation to Brother and ABBA, which I have not heard of. However, after a bit of researching, I found out the facts, bios, and history of these bands. And their music is quite phenomenal.
After listening to these great soundtracks, I have a better appreciation to these artists, and opened up a new view on music.
Thank you randomly selected blog.
Great Films
Yet another Sunday finishing my procrastinated blog entries, I tell myself it’s time to make up some work, since I missed more than half of the classes this week.
As assigned, I watched the Silence of the Lamb, and I am to respond to the movie. Silence of the Lamb is a thriller/horror movie that received lots of praise at its time, starring Anthony Hopkins and Jodie foster.
The movie did not horrify nor thrill me partially due to the fact that I was watching Spongebob Sqarepants prior to the movie. However, another thing that immediately noticed since that beginning of the movie would be the fact that this movie’s technology effects aren’t as high as contemporary horror movies, due to the fact that the movies is almost 20 years old.
The gap between today’s movies and older films is enormous, not just the visual effects, make ups, and fake corpse/blood, but also the content and “craziness”. Contemporary horror movies contain a great amount of gore that older horror films cannot compare. Before I watched Silence of the Lamb, I have personally seen some outrageous horror movies, making the Silence of the Lamb kind of child’s play, although the plot and the dedication of the actors are comparably better.
But I am sure Silence of the Lamb scared quite the population twenty years ago.
Soundtrack of My Life
Opening credit: Somewhere I belong – Linkin Park
If you walk into my room, all you will see is Linkin Park posters. =(
Waking up: Gold Gun Girls – Metric
Metric is a Canadian band, and the lead singer is hot. And they also have great songs.
First Day of School: Pieces – Sum 41
Ah Sum 41! This is one of their recently songs, I like their old style better, however.
Falling in Love: Earthquake – Family Force 5
I have no idea why this song is in my itune. It’s not so bad though.
Fight Song: Given Up – Linkin Park
I loved it when Chester finally cursed on one of his songs.
Breaking Up: Careless Whisper – Seether
Personally I think Seether’s version is better than George Michael’s.
Prom: Anna Molly – Incubus
This song always gets in my head when I listen to it.
Life: Feel Good Drag – Anberlin
This is a great song that I heard on the radio, the lyrics are interesting.
Mental Breakdown: Starcraft Terran Theme
ROFLMAONADE nerd alert!
Driving: Message in A Bottle – The Police
My biology professor always like to play songs before class in his oversized lecture hall. And one day I heard this song, and I was like “dang”.
Flashback: Bartender – T-Pain
This song was always on the radio at its prime time.
Wedding: Switchback – Celldweller
I listen to techno-ish stuff, occasionally.
Birth Of Child: I Miss You – Blink 182
Who doesn’t have this song on his/her itune???
Final Battle: Lips of an Angel – Hinder
I like how they can make a song about cheating on someone.
Death Scene: Paramore – Misery Business
I love all rock bands with a female vocalist.
Funeral Song: Zetsoubou Billy – Maximum the Hormone
Yeah I’m Asian and I watch animes. Got a problem with that?
End Credits: Riot – 3 Days Grace
Even thought this song has been around for a while, I still hear it from time to time.
Cleaning house
Since I barely, if ever, clean my room, I didn’t have too much thought about cleaning my room. However, my family did move a few times, so many memories of packing stuff are quite rich.
The most memorable one would be the time I that have to pack my stuff and say goodbye to all my friends from my home country in order to move to America. It was a family decision but I dint have a say in it. But looking back now, it was a good decision made by my parents.
Although I was young, I knew that I would never see my room ever again. My emotion was neither sad nor excited, but curious. Curious about what would happen to my life and wondering how am I going to assimilate.
Today, as my naturalization is in progress, I am looking forward to visit my room back in my home country once again. And if you happen to read this. I wish you have a wonderful time in Australia, Ms. Goldfarb.
